It sometimes get too hot in central Barcelona (the city of Gaudi). So I need to go to a cooler place and there is no better place that Montserrat. A massive mountain range just outside the city.
There are many ways you can get to Montserrat, including train from Placa Espanya, Coaches and of course cars. You can even walk it there if you are feeling very brave (it will probably take you a good 4 hours though).
I chose to get there by train, a good choice as I am not very good at driving on scary mountain roads. And talking about scary mountain roads, the train tip became very scary once we transferred to the mountain train. Now this train was going from the bottom of the mountain to the top, and I think it took us about 15 minutes, but the journey was very frightening as when you look down the train, you see a very worrying view!
At the top of the mountain I enjoyed the cool temperature and church and other historical monuments. It was a good day out and you really appreciate the beautiful scenery that is on your doorstep. Get out of the city people, go to Montserrat and cool off!
